President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has called on Russia to officially acknowledge responsibility for the December 2024 crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane, according to reports by leading Romanian and Bulgarian media outlets. The remarks were reportedly made during President Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the 3rd Shusha Global Media Forum.
Romanian publications such as Evenimentul Zilei, Mediafax, and the national news agency AGERPRES, along with Bulgarian outlets including the BTA news agency and 24 Chasa, highlighted President Aliyev’s assertion that it is essential for Russia to formally admit to downing the Azerbaijani aircraft.
Both Romanian and Bulgarian media have provided extensive coverage of the incident, framing President Aliyev’s statement as a firm appeal for regional security, accountability, and respect for international law.
