Azerbaijani FM meets with Malaysian counterpart in Istanbul

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan on the sidelines of the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The meeting focused on bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malaysia, recent developments in the Middle East, and the Israel–Iran conflict.

The ministers underscored the wide-ranging potential for enhancing political dialogue, organizing reciprocal high-level visits, diversifying economic and trade relations, and cooperation in education, energy, high technologies and tourism. The parties lauded the contribution of the recent political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in developing relations.

Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of the existing interaction between Azerbaijan and Malaysia within multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

The two stressed the importance of deepening cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malaysia within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), emphasizing the importance of continuing mutual support in this direction. The importance of Azerbaijan`s admission to the D-8 organization, which unites eight developing countries, was particularly emphasized.

The meeting also addressed other bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.
