Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, had a telephone conversation with David Lammy, UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.

The discussions revolved around the prospects of cooperation agenda between the two countries, the current regional situation, and ongoing reconciliation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The UK Secretary of State expressed condolences once again for the January 20 tragedy and the tragic crash of the AZAL plane on the Baku-Grozny flight on December 25, reiterating the UK’s readiness to provide support in investigating the causes of the crash.

Jeyhun Bayramov thanked his counterpart for the condolences and solidarity and provided an update on the ongoing investigation into the plane crash.

Both parties emphasized the broad prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UK in political, economic, alternative energy, humanitarian, and other fields. They highlighted the importance of intensifying reciprocal visits and political dialogue to further deepen partnership relations.

David Lammy congratulated Azerbaijan on successfully hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and stressed the importance of continuing joint collaboration in combating climate change.

Minister Bayramov updated his British counterpart on the regional situation and the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He noted that while there had been significant progress in the peace agreement, including border delimitation, territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenia’s constitution and other legal documents remained major obstacles to the process.
