“Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s address to the participants of the Second International Conference themed “The Right to Return: Advancing Justice for Azerbaijanis Expelled from Armenia,” and the final document of the conference have been circulated as official documents of the UN General Assembly and the Security Council,” the Western Azerbaijan Community told AZERTAC.
The Community said that the circulation of President Ilham Aliyev’s address to the conference participants, who has always kept the issue of the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their native lands in spotlight, as an official document of the UN is of particular importance in terms of enhancing the profile of the issue of Western Azerbaijan on the international agenda.
“At the same time, the circulation of the final document of the conference as an official document of the UN proved effective in Western Azerbaijan Community’s receiving international recognition as a credible organization and conveying the outcomes the conference to the international community. The circulation of these documents contributes significantly to the recognition of the aforementioned annual international conference as one of the most important platforms in the international arena in the field of the right of return and international humanitarian law in general.
The Western Azerbaijan Community will continue to present the issue of peaceful, safe and dignified return on the agenda of international organizations. The Community once again calls on the Armenian government to abandon the policy of racial discrimination initiated by its predecessors, fulfill its obligations under international law, create conditions for the return of Western Azerbaijanis, and initiate a dialogue with the Western Azerbaijan Community to this end,” the Community added.
