Minister: Azerbaijan-Qatar environmental collaboration is crucial

Developing and strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar in environmental protection is crucial, Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said, Report informs.

Babayev was speaking at the reception held by the Qatari embassy in Azerbaijan on the occasion of Qatar's National Day.

The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan prioritizes environmental protection and climate change mitigation, implementing comprehensive measures in this direction:

“In 2017, a Memorandum of Understanding on wildlife protection was signed between Azerbaijan and Qatar, leading to joint initiatives. These steps exemplify successful cooperation between our countries.”

In conclusion, Babayev discussed COP29, noting Azerbaijan's role as an impartial mediator at the conference, which ensured fair and equitable negotiations:

“Azerbaijan demonstrated exemplary leadership in the fight against global climate change with the motto 'Solidarity for a Green World,' urging all states to unite for a fair, inclusive, and sustainable world. The COP29 conference held in Baku concluded with significant success, and Azerbaijan achieved historically important results in the climate negotiations.”
