The Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) and the MIR TV and radio company have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The document was signed by AZERTAC Chairman of the Board Vugar Aliyev and MIR Deputy Chairman Vladimir Kazarezov.

During the meeting, Vugar Aliyev noted that AZERTAC, which will mark its 105th anniversary next year, publishes around 600 news items daily in eight languages. He highlighted the agency's collaboration with 53 international news agencies and media organizations, including its long-standing partner, TASS. "We maintain strong ties with CIS news agencies both bilaterally and within the framework of the Information Council, which facilitates joint media projects," he said.

Vugar Aliyev also underscored the growing threat of fake news and stressed the importance of international cooperation to address this challenge. He noted that over the past two years, AZERTAC has signed around five cooperation agreements and updated several interaction documents, incorporating provisions for video material exchange. "The agency is making significant efforts in this direction. I am confident that the signing of this memorandum will further strengthen ties between MIR and AZERTAC," he added.

Vladimir Kazarezov expressed satisfaction with visiting Baku and reiterated readiness for cooperation and experience-sharing with AZERTAC, the country’s leading news agency. He noted that MIR also disseminates news through social media and emphasized that their primary objective is information exchange between state institutions. "Combating the spread of fake news is our shared responsibility, and we must verify information and share reliable sources," Kazarezov stated.

Highlighting that the third CIS Games will take place in Azerbaijan in 2025, Kazarezov confirmed MIR’s active participation in covering this significant sporting event.

Director of MIR's Azerbaijan office Ilgar Pashazade emphasized that the cooperation between the two media entities will be mutually beneficial.
