Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, met with the U.S. delegation led by Josh Huck, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as prospects of the Azerbaijan-Armenia reconciliation process.
Both sides highlighted the importance of the long-standing collaborative relations between the two countries across various sectors, emphasizing the need to further develop bilateral ties based on mutual interests.
They hailed Azerbaijan-US cooperation during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Azerbaijan this November.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov provided an update on the post-conflict situation, including the Azerbaijani-Armenian peace negotiations. According to him, despite notable progress, Armenia continues to raise claims against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in its Constitution, laws, and at international organizations and courts. Mammadov found the need for Armenia to abandon these claims.
