Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, met with a delegation led by Joshua Huck, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State overseeing policy for Southern Europe and the Caucasus, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
The meeting covered discussions of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the US, as well as prospects for the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The parties highlighted the importance of historical cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and the US in several areas and the development of bilateral relations within the framework of mutual interests.
The collaboration between Azerbaijan and the United States was praised during COP29 of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Azerbaijan in November 2024.
Mammadov informed the American side about the situation in the region in the post-conflict period and the negotiations on a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
He underlined that despite significant progress in peace agreement negotiations, Armenia's continuing claims against Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty in its constitution, legislative acts, and international organizations and courts, and emphasized the importance of abandoning these claims.
The meeting also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
