Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), addressed the event "Joint COP29 Presidency and MCF's Event: Catalyzing Climate Impact" in the Blue Zone, highlighting the importance of meeting the climate finance needs of developing countries.

"I am pleased to say that this is the second time climate finance funds have gathered at COP conferences. At COP28, we faced pivotal challenges. The most essential issue that we aim to address is ensuring that developing countries receive the climate finance they urgently need," Duarte stated.

She also touched on the longstanding challenges in accessing climate finance, emphasizing that "climate finance involves millions of organizations, and it is not solely managed by climate-related bodies." Duarte stressed the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure easier access to these crucial funds.
