Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry: France is not interested in sustainable and tangible peacebuilding in the region
“The focus on a smear campaign against Azerbaijan, rather than on Armenia-France relations, by French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies, who does not follow elementary diplomatic etiquette rules, is a primary result of the failure of French foreign policy,” said Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as he responded to the local media inquiry about the groundless allegations against Azerbaijan by the French Ambassador to Armenia in his interview with Armenia’s “Hetq” media outlet.
“The negative targeting of measures to end the occupation and separatism in the territory of Azerbaijan, false references to the decisions of the International Court of Justice, statements supporting Armenia’s “incomplete peace” ideas, and several other ridiculous approaches in the interview, first and foremost, demonstrate how the French side distorts the realities and is not interested in sustainable and tangible peacebuilding in the region.
The behavior and provocations of France aimed at continuing the escalation in the region attest to the true nature of the intention and policy pursued by this country, both during the conflict and in the post-conflict periods,” Hajizada noted.
