The Norwegian newspaper "Geopolitika" has published an article by Zaur Ahmadov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, highlighting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) that will be held in Baku this November, as well as launching Truce initiative during the event.

Emphasizing the close connection between the climate crisis, which poses a real threat to the planet, and the conflicts that destroy the earth’s ecosystem, polluting the soil, water and air, the Azerbaijani diplomat mentioned about the Truce initiative put forward by Azerbaijan during the conference.

The diplomat also recalled the long-term conflict with Armenia, which caused mass destruction and environmental damage in a huge part of Azerbaijan's territory. He pointed out that recent progress in the peace process with Yerevan and Armenia's support for Azerbaijan's successful bid to host COP29 highlight the potential of cooperation even in the most dire situations for the common good.
