Azerbaijan, Albania mull bilateral and multilateral cooperation

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Thursday with Igli Hasani, Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, on the margins of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, the sides discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Albania, as well as the current regional situation.

They highlighted the significance of making joint efforts to strengthen the relations between the two countries based on friendship, mutual respect and beneficial cooperation across political, economic, energy security, culture, education and other domains.

The ministers described the energy cooperation as a driving force of bilateral economic relations.

The sides also emphasized the importance of continuing existing mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as interaction based on mutual support and solidarity both on bilateral and multilateral platforms.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his Albanian counterpart about the current situation, large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories, as well as the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as efforts to advance the regional peace agenda.

The meeting also saw discussions on other topics of mutual interest.
