"The COP29 team has demonstrated how critical renewable energy is. We greatly appreciate Azerbaijan's activities related to COP29," Julia Souder, Executive Director of the Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES Council) and Chair of the Global Renewables Alliance, told Report.

Souder emphasized that the COP29 partners are collaborating effectively and diligently in preparing for the COP29 Presidency. "We are truly excited about COP29. The Global Renewables Alliance, along with public and private partners, is working to develop partnerships based on the initiative already mentioned by the COP29 President-Designate. Specifically, we have goals related to energy storage and resource conservation. During the event in Washington, the COP29 team highlighted the crucial importance of renewable energy. We greatly appreciate Azerbaijan’s contributions to COP29. I am also thrilled to attend the COP29 summit in Baku," she said.

The director also pointed out, “I believe that COP29 will pave the way for a successful COP30, and I am confident that our collaboration will yield excellent results. We want to see successful results. To achieve the infrastructure and funding necessary to combat climate change and its impacts, we must work together with partners across various sectors. COP29 will be instrumental in this effort.”

Souder highlighted Azerbaijan's abundant renewable energy resources: "Azerbaijan is among the countries with high potential for renewable energy sources. When discussing climate finance, we must consider identifying renewable energy sources worldwide and making this energy accessible in transition economies and globally. We must take action on this topic."
