During a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric praised the recent parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, stating that they were conducted at a high level with all necessary conditions for citizens to freely express their will.
"I congratulate the Azerbaijani people. Every country that pursues an independent foreign policy faces attempts at interference by outside forces. Every nation has the right to express their rights and freedoms without foreign interference," Djuric said.
The Serbian diplomat also noted that his own country successfully thwarted attempts at foreign interference during their parliamentary elections last year. Serbia held transparent elections in accordance with international standards, despite efforts by external actors to seize power.
