In preparation for the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for September 1, 2024, 1,000 web cameras have been installed across 199 constituencies throughout Azerbaijan.

At a meeting chaired by Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman Mazahir Panahov, the installation of these cameras was discussed in detail.

The meeting also approved the protocol from the previous meeting held on August 16.

The Commission highlighted the comprehensive preparations to ensure that the elections are conducted at a high standard. Extensive opportunities have been created for all election participants, with many local and international observers, media representatives, and public institutions expected to freely participate.

It was emphasized that the extensive and effective use of the latest AI technologies, alongside other innovations, will significantly enhance the transparency of the voting process.

For 16 years, Azerbaijan has successfully utilized webcams in its elections, allowing anyone with internet access to watch the entire voting process live, without the need for registration.

Commission members expressed confidence that the use of web cameras in the upcoming parliamentary elections would play a crucial role in further increasing transparency.

The project was carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport and the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security.

During the meeting, which included representatives from international observation missions, commission members with advisory voting rights, and the media, changes were also made to the composition of the Sabail constituency election commission No. 7.
