Türkiye and Azerbaijan gave women the right to vote and be elected before many Western countries, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagci said at the conference themed "Women in the Islamic world: traditions and challenges" held in Shusha, Report informs.
The ambassador spoke about the work done to boost the activity and role of women in social and political life in Türkiye and Azerbaijan:
"Türkiye’s 2024 action plan includes serious measures to prevent violence against women. We see important steps, bills, and various measures by Azerbaijan regarding women's and children's rights. In this direction, as the state of Türkiye, we are always ready to share experiences with official Baku. There is even an action plan in this regard between our countries and we are implementing it together."
