Marcos Neto: UNDP committed to supporting Azerbaijan in achieving SDGs

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is committed to supporting Azerbaijan in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda, Marcos Athias Neto, Assistant Secretary General and Director of the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) said.

Report informs that Neto was speaking during the 4th Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Dialogue on the topic "Stakeholder Consultation on 4th Voluntary National Review of Azerbaijan and Women’s Economic Empowerment for SDG 5 Acceleration."

He congratulated Azerbaijan on becoming one of the few countries that have prepared the fourth voluntary national review of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) saying that this is a testament to the country's commitment to the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.

Neto noted that the SDG investment maps that will include aspects of women's entrepreneurship have been launched.

He said UNDP is trying to implement an environmental, social and governance framework, and develop or provide a roadmap for integrating the principles of the SDGs into the country's economy.

Neto also expressed confidence about the successful holding of COP29 in Azerbaijan and voiced support for the successful holding of this climate conference.
