The EU regrets that there are still reports of new landmine casualties in Azerbaijan, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko said in response to a question from Report.

Michalko emphasized that the EU is aware of the importance of this issue for Azerbaijan, therefore it will continue its support to the country in three main areas.

“We are very saddened by the news of more landmine victims. We want to continue our support in all three areas of mine action - mine clearance, mine awareness, which is especially important now that people have begun to return, and also in the area of support for mine victims,” he said.

The ambassador also stated that the European Union is Azerbaijan’s largest partner in this matter and will continue to support the country in matters of demining the de-occupied territories.
