Geopolitical issues have a role in climate change, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, the President of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly, said at the 4th panel discussion of the 11th Global Baku Forum on "Fixing the Fractured World," Report informs.

"Climate is not only an environmental issue. The environment is an issue that crosses the national borders of every country. These issues will be carefully considered at COP29. Renewable energy is getting cheaper. The issue of how to finance the transition to low-carbon should be considered. A joint effort is to be made for the transition from traditional energy to renewable energy."

Espinosa noted that the financial source behind the transition from traditional energy to renewable energy should be determined: "A road map leading to 2030 is to be drawn up. In this program, each country must know its role."

Maria Fernanda Espinosa also expressed hope that, by the end of COP29, a peace treaty will be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
