Khojaly is now free, the lands once trampled by the bloody boots of the Armenian invaders have returned to their original owners. Life is returning to these places, Khojaly people will live in their native villages from now on. But the Khojaly genocide will always be remembered. Because it is a pain that will always live with us.
One of our compatriots who carried this pain in his heart for many years is Dr. Logman Mammadov, who headed the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy of Azerbaijan Medical University for 20 years. On the eve of Memorial Day, we met with Mr. Logman and talked about his wooden multi-figure composition dedicated to Khojaly.
- Mr. Logman, please inform us about this multi-figure composition you dedicated to the Khojaly genocide. How would you characterize this work of yours?
- The Khojaly genocide is the bloody page of the policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide carried out by Armenian nationalist usurpers against the people of Azerbaijan for more than two hundred years. This tragedy is a mountain on our chest. The Khojaly genocide is not just a tragedy, but an indicator of the inhumanity of Armenian nationalists and extremists. This composition has a challenge for each of us. The call and hope to unite as one fist and liberate our land, Khojaly from occupation, is reflected. Thanks, now Karabakh is free. Life is returning to Khojaly and our other liberated territories. By winning the 44-day war, our people cheered the souls of the victims of the Khojaly genocide. I was also lucky to see Khojaly free. This composition also reached its goal.
- Now Khojaly is entering a new era, do you think of preparing any composition on this topic?
- A black ribbon is tied under the composition. Khojaly was under occupation at that time. My wish was that Khojaly would be cleared of invaders, I will untie that black ribbon and tie a red ribbon at the top. I also told my students that if I don't see the day when Khojaly is recaptured, you will put this composition on my grave. After the liberation of Khojaly from the invaders, you will replace that black ribbon with a red ribbon so that my soul will be happy. I am very thankful for today, Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity, as in other liberated territories, today our tricolor flag is flying in Khojaly.
