The Daily Tribune News of Bahrain" newspaper of the Kingdom of Bahrain has published an article headlined "From Ruin to Renewal” by the editor Puravangara Unnikrishnan highlighting the snap presidential election held in Azerbaijan on February 7.

The author, as a journalist, highlighted the voting process in the snap presidential election in the liberated Karabakh region, the conditions created for foreign journalists invited to cover the election, as well as the traces of Armenian vandalism in the liberated territories after the 44-day Patriotic War and the ongoing reconstruction works in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

“I noticed many voters participating for the first time, displaying a mix of anxiety and passion. When I asked a few voters about his predictions for the election results, they expressed confidence in the incumbent president`s re-election, describing him as a hero who defended the country during the war and successfully diversified the economy from relying on oil.

Having witnessed these historic elections first hand, including in areas recently liberated from Armenia, particularly Karabakh, I had a unique insight into the significance of this electoral process,” the author said.

“The significance of the 2024 presidential election lies in its unprecedented scope. For the first time in Azerbaijan`s history, elections were conducted across the entire territory, including the recently liberated Karabakh region. This monumental shift underscores the nation`s determination to assert sovereignty over reclaimed territories and integrate them into the electoral process,” the author emphasized.

The author also mentioned to the conditions created for foreign journalists invited to cover the election, by saying: “International observers lauded the elections as fair and transparent, with a high voter turnout indicative of widespread public interest. The media coverage of the elections was robust, with reporters from various countries invited to witness the proceedings. Journalists were granted unrestricted access to polling booths allowing them to observe and interact with voters freely. The overwhelming sentiment among voters supported President Aliyev, whom they viewed as the hero who preserved their nation`s pride through victory in war.”
