CEC Chairman meets with PABSEC Secretary General

Chairman of Azerbaijan`s Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov has met with a delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) led by Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev.

 

During the meeting, Chairman Panahov briefed the delegation on the upcoming presidential election, which features seven candidates vying for the presidency. He emphasized the independence of the media in Azerbaijan and highlighted the conducive conditions provided for press representatives to cover the electoral process. Additionally, Panahov noted that 26 polling stations have been established in the liberated territories, ensuring favorable conditions for voters to exercise their right to vote freely. He specified that voting will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

 

Regarding observation of the voting process, Panahov mentioned the deployment of 90,000 observers, including 790 international observers, and three organizations tasked with conducting exit polls.

 

PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev expressed confidence that the elections would be held transparently in accordance with the legislation requirements. At the same time, he emphasized that all necessary conditions had been created for observers to monitor the voting process. Asaf Hajiyev also mentioned to the strong cooperation between PABSEC and Azerbaijan.
