Elchin Amirbayov: France’s attempt to breakup cultural bonds with Azerbaijan is the most unworthy deed

“France’s attempt to breakup cultural bonds with Azerbaijan is the most unworthy deed,” said Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on special assignments Elchin Amirbayov in an interview with French newspaper Le Monde, while condemning the act of vandalism committed on December 30, 2023 against the statue of prominent representative of the 19th century Azerbaijani poetry, Khurshidbanu Natavan, which was erected in French city of Evian in 2017.

Mentioning France's reckless behaviour towards Azerbaijan, which caused surprise and deep regret, the representative of the President noted that "for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan’s international relations a country adopts such a large number of biased resolutions under the influence of the Armenian diaspora, that are not based on our bilateral relations".

The article dedicated to the ongoing diplomatic crisis between Paris and Baku, also featured the call of the Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis to the Azerbaijani government to cut off all economic relations with France in response to the latest anti-Azerbaijani resolution adopted by the French Senate on January 17, 2024.
