In an interview with VOA, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien, said he is hopeful that a peace treaty can be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia soon, Report informs.
He welcomed the exchange of prisoners between the parties: "I think what’s really significant is that the two countries are talking with each other and reaching practical agreements. The prisoners are already home."
He also lauded the joint statement by the two countries noting that both sides expressed their interest in peace. He added: "We are willing to help, we are encouraging both parties to come together."
