Tokayev: Kazakhstan welcomes Azerbaijan’s contribution to development of SPECA

Kazakhstan welcomes Azerbaijan's contribution to the development of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, said in his speech at the SPECA Summit in Baku, XQ informs.

According to him, Kazakhstan initiated the UN special program back in 1997, and later this program became an effective platform for regional cooperation.

“Last year, under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan, we strengthened the main directions of the program and took concrete steps in terms of practical implementation,” he stressed.

Tokayev also noted that Kazakhstan is ready to continue cooperation within the framework of the North-South international transport corridor project.

The Kazakh President also added that his country expects a significant increase in cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor route: “It is very important for our countries to conduct research on environmental protection and management of transboundary water resources.”
