Indonesian recognized as official language of UNESCO General Conference

The Indonesian language has been recognized as an official language of the UNESCO General Conference, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry reported on its X (formerly Twitter), XQ informs via TASS.

"Indonesian officially designated as the 10th official language of the UNESCO General Conference (20/11). With this, Indonesian can be used as the working language, and documents of the General Conference can be translated into Indonesian," the ministry said.

"This recognition is a source of pride for the entire Indonesian nation," the Detik news portal quoted Indonesian President Joko Widodo as saying.

Apart from Indonesian, the official languages of the UNESCO General Conference are Arabic, Chinese, French, English, Italian, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
