Azerbaijan supports the normalization of relations with Armenia and the signing of a peace agreement. There are good opportunities for peace agenda in the region today,” said Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova as she addressed the 56th plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations held in Bishkek.

“President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly stated that Azerbaijan supports the normalization of relations with Armenia and signing of a peace agreement,” Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized.

Gafarova also drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan is actively carrying out the large-scale restoration and construction works in the liberated territories, in the Karabakh region.

Speaking about the implementation of the State Program on Great Return, Sahiba Gafarova noted that former IDPs had already returned to the cities of Lachin and Fuzuli, as well as a number of villages.

“The country is planning to return more than 140,000 people to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur by the end of 2026,” the Speaker added.
