Azerbaijani PM meets with Turkish Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change

Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has met with a delegation headed by Türkiye's Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki and including deputy chairmen of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party).

 

The sides stressed the importance of the 2nd Meteorological Forum of the Turkic World held in Baku. They expressed confidence that the forum would create ample opportunities for the further development of cooperation between Turkic-speaking countries in the field of meteorology.

 

The parties noted the significance of the decision on the establishment of the Turkic World Meteorological Union, which was adopted at the 1st Meteorological Forum held in Ankara in 2021.

 

PM Ali Asadov highlighted the works carried out by the government to modernize the field of meteorology in Azerbaijan.

 

The sides also hailed the development of cooperation between the Azerbaijan Hydro meteorological Service under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Turkish State Meteorological Service, adding that the exchange of experience is carried out regularly between the two authorities.

 

The Azerbaijani PM praised Türkiye`s efforts in combating climate change, and noted that starting from 2020, Azerbaijan has joined Türkiye's mass tree planting action held under the slogan "Breathe to the Future!". The Premier noted that hundreds of thousands of trees were planted in the country as part of the project.

 

Ali Asadov provided insight into the environmental damage caused to the lands of Azerbaijan during the 30-year occupation by Armenia.

 

Emphasizing the importance of cooperation with Türkiye in this area, the PM highlighted the establishment of "Azerbaijan-Türkiye International Forestry Training Center", "Smart Seedlings" and "Friendship Forest" Complex in the Jabrayil district.
