Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari on the sidelines of the 27th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of issues on the agenda of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. The two emphasized that the recent high-level reciprocal visits and meetings had made a positive contribution to the further development of relations.
They exchanged views on the implementation of the North-South transport corridor, as well as communication links between the Eastern Zangezur Economic Region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.
The sides hailed increase in the dynamics of economic relations and the activity of the Intergovernmental Commission between the two countries.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information about the local anti-terrorist measures carried by Azerbaijan to put an end to the political and military provocations of Armenia, and ensure the withdrawal of the illegal Armenian armed groups from the territory of Azerbaijan.
FM Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan had implemented appropriate measures for the reintegration of Armenian residents within Azerbaijan’s Constitution, adding Azerbaijan is interested in establishing lasting peace with Armenia based on the principles of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other regional issues.
