“Relations with Central Asian countries are of great importance for Azerbaijan. There are close ties between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, which are deepening day by day. We can say with confidence that in recent years, the relations between the two countries have reached a qualitatively new stage thanks to reciprocal visits by the heads of state”, Chairman of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) Farid Shafiyev said at the event on Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan relations.

Noting that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is expanding every year, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel hailed the special role of the reciprocal visits by the heads of state.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of the economic and commercial relations for both countries, saying that the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan increased by 40 percent and reached $450 million last year. “During the six months of the current year, the volume of trade turnover between the two countries has reached $300 million. In particular, the transportation of Kazakh oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline began this year,” he added.
