The International Forum on “Healthy Environment and Mine-Free Life to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," organized by Azerbaijan's Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) with the support of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), is continuing today in the liberated city of Aghdam, Report informs.

The international experts first visited Aghdam Martyrs' Alley.

Later on, they got acquainted with the area where clearance work was carried out with rats and dogs by the first female demining team in Azerbaijan.

In the second half of the day, the international conference continued at the Conference Center in Aghdam City with the participation of 15 international experts and representatives of local NGOs.

The Executive Director of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations, Aygun Aliyeva, the Chairman of the Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology Committee of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), Sadiq Gurbanov, the ANAMA Board Chairman, Vugar Suleymanov, the Deputy Head of the Ombudsman's Office, Rashid Rumzade, the head of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Azerbaijan, Kanako Mabuchi, and the Chairman of the International Eurasian Press Fund, Umud Mirzayev, are attending the event.

Before the forum, the participants visited the destroyed Aghdam Martyrs' Alley.

The event will discuss the serious threats posed by landmines to people's lives and health and to humanity in general, as well as the obstacles to sustainable development caused by landmines and unexploded ordnance in the liberated territories.

In accordance with the program, the area where demining work is carried out in the liberated territory of the Bash Garvand village of Agdam will be visited.
