The Presidential Library of Azerbaijan launched a virtual exhibition on the occasion of April 23 – World Book and Copyright Day.

The exhibition includes publications on book culture, copyright protection, and the role of intellectual property in society.

The materials presented in the virtual exhibition consistently outline the developmental trajectory of copyright, from its historical formation to contemporary legal mechanisms. The publications explain the principles of protecting authors' labor, the legal defense of creative works, and the book's role as a carrier of knowledge and culture.

The exhibition covers the concept of intellectual property and its international regulation. This approach highlights that copyright is not only a legal mechanism but also a key factor for cultural development and the intellectual environment.

The designation of April 23 as World Book and Copyright Day is based on a resolution adopted by UNESCO at its 28th session in Paris in 1995. This date was chosen in commemoration of the death of world-renowned writers William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
