Azerbaijan, Austria discuss cooperation opportunities in the field of classical music

As part of his visit to Austria, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Culture, People's Artist Murad Huseynov met with President of the International Mozarteum Foundation Johannes Honsig-Erlenburg in Salzburg.

The meeting, attended by Leyla Gasimova, Director of the Azerbaijani Cultural Center in Vienna,

and Linus Klumpner, Chief Executive Officer of the International Mozarteum Foundation, focused on the prospects for musical collaboration between Azerbaijan and Austria.

The parties exchanged views on organizing joint concert programs, conducting master classes and seminars, as well as implementing joint projects for music schools, children, and adolescents, as well as expanding ties in the field of classical music.

During the conversation, special emphasis was placed on the preservation and promotion of global musical heritage. The meeting also underscored the importance of promoting Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s legacy, the founder of the Azerbaijani professional music school, worldwide.

Murad Huseynov emphasized that such meetings are instrumental in deepening cultural dialogue and building sustainable cooperation between the two countries in the field of music.

Deputy Minister of Culture Murad Huseynov also met with Sabine Grubmüller, Managing Director of the Austrian Bösendorfer company, one of the world's leading piano manufacturers, in Salzburg.

During the meeting, discussions centered on expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly through the organization of joint concert programs, masterclasses, and high-profile presentation events.

Both parties paid special attention to supporting young talents and promoting classic music through joint projects. The sides agreed to continue maintaining cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, Deputy Minister Murad Huseynov and Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center Leyla Gasimova attended the final concert of the International Mozart Competition as guests of honor.

At the competition, where the grand prize is sponsored by the Bösendorfer company, young pianists from across the globe demonstrated their mastery accompanied by a full orchestra.

Held biennially by the Mozarteum University, the competition serves as a premier global platform providing opportunity for young talents to compete in various nominations such as piano, violin, vocal performances of Mozart’s timeless works.
