On December 19, the Nizami Cinema Center hosted the screening of a documentary “The Oligarch's Design,” one of investigative series produced by International TV channel AnewZ.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished audience, including MPs, heads of Azerbaijani TV channels and news agencies, media executives, and public and political figures.
Addressing the audience prior to the screening of the documentary, Rufat Hamzayev, AnewZ Executive Director, shared insights into the production. He emphasized that the premiere also serves as the official launch of the “AnewZ Investigations” platform, describing the documentary as a comprehensive realization of international investigative journalism.
The AnewZ Executive Director stated that work on the film began in January of this year, adding that the filming of the project, which lasted 10-11 months, took place in eight countries. “About a hundred people worked on the project,” the executive director emphasized.
The documentary film explores Ruben Vardanyan’s renunciation of Russian citizenship in 2022 and his arrival to the region to join the political leadership of the self-proclaimed separatist regime. These events are analyzed through extensive research and interviews conducted across Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Ukraine, featuring insights from lawmakers, legal experts, regional analysts, and journalists.
Following the remarks, guests viewed the premiere of “The Oligarch's Design."
The film also touches on the Aurora Foundation, with interviews conducted with representatives of this platform, which has included prominent figures from around the world over many years.
