In line with an order by President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum hosted an event titled “The Love of Fuzuli,” dedicated to the 530th anniversary of the renowned philosopher and poet Muhammad Fuzuli.

The event featured the unveiling of the carpet “The Love of Fuzuli,” woven by the Traditional Technologies Department of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum. The carpet, designed by Honored Artist Taryer Bashirov, Head Artist of the museum, portrays a portrait of Fuzuli adorned with verses from his works. It was created using the wrapping technique, a traditional method that has become nearly forgotten, and was completed within three months by skilled carpet weavers Lala Manafova and Ilhama Ahmadova in 2024.

In collaboration with the International Mugham Centre, the event included a concert performance by the Chorus named after Jahangir Jahangirov. The program featured musical compositions by Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Suleyman Alasgarov, Jahangir Jahangirov, and Ashraf Abbasov, inspired by Fuzuli’s works. The chorus was conducted by Honored Teacher Tarana Yusifova.

Additionally, students from the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts performed a pantomime play based on Fuzuli’s iconic poem “Layla and Majnun.”

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, and the International Mugham Centre.
