An official function was arranged in Baku on Tuesday to mark the national holiday of Greece.

Addressing the event, Greek ambassador to the country Christos Kapodistrias lauded the friendly relations between the two countries. Mentioning the relations between Greece and Azerbaijan across various domains, the diplomat said that the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission is poised to be held in the coming weeks.

The diplomat expressed his optimism over Azerbaijan`s successful hosting of the COP29 summit in a few months. He touched upon the Trans-Adriatic pipeline. “The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline has been steadily and reliably transporting natural gas through Turkiye, our neighbor, from Azerbaijan to Greece, Bulgaria, and Italy for over three years. More than 33.5 billion cubic meters of gas have been transported to Greece, Bulgaria and Italy via the Trans-Adriatic pipeline since it has become operational," the ambassador stressed. The diplomat expressed his confidence that relations between the two countries will continue to strengthen.

Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov highlighted the fruitful cooperation and political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Greece. Touching upon the relations encompassing various domains, including education, culture and tourism, the diplomat described the oil and gas projects as core ones.

"Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria plays a key role in strengthening Europe's energy security and diversifying gas supply. The meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission will be held this year. We believe that our cooperation will be further strengthened," said the deputy minister.
