A meeting of Azerbaijani and Russian intellectuals was held in Moscow on the initiative of Russia’s Embassy in Azerbaijan. The event, organized on the eve of World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and the New Year, highlighted the important role of humanitarian ties between the two countries.

The meeting, hosted at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Russia, brought together scientists and lecturers from leading Moscow universities, as well as representatives of theatre, cinema, fine arts, cultural centers, and Azerbaijani and Russian intellectuals working in various fields.

Speaking at the meeting, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev noted that the past year had not been an easy one for bilateral relations. He stressed that the tragedy involving an AZAL aircraft in December last year had undoubtedly affected these relations. “Nevertheless, relations between Azerbaijan and Russia continued to develop successfully in the economic and humanitarian spheres. No slowdown or decline was observed in other areas either,” the ambassador said.

In this context, Rahman Mustafayev expressed gratitude to representatives of the Azerbaijani community living in Russia, as well as to Russian intellectuals, noting that their efforts and implemented projects have made a significant contribution to the continued development of bilateral cooperation in these fields.

The ambassador also called on the Azerbaijani community to unity and briefed participants on the priority directions of Azerbaijan–Russia bilateral relations in 2026.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views, discussions on cooperation opportunities, and talks on the prospects for relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.
