Kazakhstan is steadily strengthening its position as a major global grain exporter.
In the 2024–2025 period, grain and flour exports (in grain equivalent) reached approximately 10 million tonnes from September to the end of April, marking a 37.4% increase compared to the previous period.
Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov stated that after a five-year hiatus, Kazakhstan has resumed grain supplies to Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye.
“We are also increasing exports of durum wheat to Italy. At the same time, Kazakhstan is expanding its presence in non-traditional European markets such as Belgium, Poland, Portugal, Norway, and the United Kingdom. Countries like Morocco and the UAE are also showing growing interest in our products,” he said.
He emphasized that, for the first time in five years, Kazakhstan resumed grain exports to Iran and Azerbaijan—raising supply volumes by dozens of times.
From September to April of the 2024/2025 season, Azerbaijan imported 569,000 tonnes of grain and flour (in grain equivalent) from Kazakhstan, compared to just 5,000 tonnes during the same period last year—an increase by a factor of 113.
