Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, one of Colombia’s most prestigious higher education institutions, hosted an in-depth presentation on Azerbaijan. The event, organized under the “Dialogue with Diplomats” initiative, was attended by students from various faculties of the university.

The presentation emphasized the historical significance of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), the first secular and democratic state in the East, highlighting its pivotal role in the country’s statehood history. Attendees were introduced to the progressive reforms and achievements realized during the brief existence of the ADR.

The session also shed light on the serious political and economic challenges Azerbaijan faced after regaining its independence in 1991. It was noted that, under the visionary leadership of National Leader and founder of modern Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, the country embarked on a trajectory of rapid development, evolving into a strong and influential state on the international stage.

Within the context of current global geopolitical dynamics, the growing importance of Azerbaijan in the international energy sector was discussed, along with its economic, transit, and logistical accomplishments.

The presentation addressed the severe consequences of Armenia’s long-standing occupation and ongoing mine terrorism, including the destruction of Azerbaijan’s cultural and religious heritage. In contrast, attendees were informed about the wide-ranging reconstruction and development efforts underway in the liberated territories.

Additionally, the presentation highlighted Azerbaijan’s multicultural society and introduced participants to educational and scholarship opportunities, particularly the “Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant.” The event concluded with a Q&A session.
