Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister, met with Mohammad Abunayyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power, as part of his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting praised ACWA Power as an important partner of Azerbaijan in the energy sector. It was mentioned that this cooperation is a clear indicator of brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia.

The sides underlined the importance of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant and sea water desalination projects currently implemented jointly with the company. They also hailed the successful completion of the construction and connection of the wind farm to the grid and the role of collaboration in this process.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the implementation status of electric power interconnectors projects on the Black Sea, Europe, Central Asia and Nakhchivan routes, as well as cooperation on the development and transmission of green energy between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, discussions also revolved around the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and ACWA Power in the field of electricity generation and transmission.
