"Bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Azerbaijan have undergone significant development since their establishment in 1992. This progress is the result of high-level relations between the leaders of our two friendly countries. Numerous high-level mutual visits have taken place. In particular, the official visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to Azerbaijan on September 16 holds special importance. During that visit, 14 agreements and Memorandums of Understanding were signed across various fields, the most important being the Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Relations between the UAE and Azerbaijan," said UAE Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammed Al Blushi.
He noted that President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Abu Dhabi in July opened new avenues for cooperation between the two countries.
"The first meeting under this agreement was held in Abu Dhabi on November 27. This document is considered a major milestone in UAE–Azerbaijan relations and reflects the shared aspiration of both countries to build a resilient, knowledge- and innovation-based economy that meets future development needs," he added.
"The signing of around 68 agreements and Memorandums of Understanding has created opportunities for major investors to cooperate across important sectors, including energy, sustainability, and artificial intelligence. In 2024, the total trade volume between the two countries reached approximately $2.2 billion. UAE–Azerbaijan relations embody a strong friendship built on mutual respect and shared interests. In terms of air transport, UAE national carriers operate about 28 weekly direct flights, while Azerbaijani airlines operate 14 weekly flights," the ambassador said.
He emphasized that all these developments point to an even brighter future for relations between the UAE and Azerbaijan.
