A delegation led by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov visited Qatar, where a series of meetings were held to discuss the development of bilateral cooperation.
During a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister Jabbarov emphasized the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, noting the importance of high-level visits and contacts in advancing this partnership. He briefed the Qatari side on Azerbaijan’s economic priorities, investment opportunities, and potential for expanding joint activities. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani underlined that Qatar’s relations with Azerbaijan are based on sincere friendship and partnership, and exchanged views on boosting economic ties. The parties discussed ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation.
In a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, the expansion of trade relations was identified as a priority in bilateral ties. The sides stressed that increasing mutual investments would contribute to the economic development of both countries. They also discussed Azerbaijan’s favorable business climate, transit opportunities, and prospects for investment in priority sectors such as green technologies, agriculture, infrastructure, and industrial modernization.
At a meeting with Mohammed Saif Al-Sowaidi, CEO of the Qatar Investment Authority, the sides noted significant opportunities for enhancing joint investment activities. Discussions covered mutual investments, potential joint projects, and deepening partnerships between the business communities of both countries.
In a meeting with Moutaz Al-Khayyat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar’s Power International Holding, the importance of implementing mutually beneficial economic initiatives was emphasized. Opportunities for expanding cooperation in the energy sector and developing joint projects were also reviewed.
As part of the visit, agreements were signed between SOCAR and Qatar’s UCC Holding to strengthen energy sector cooperation. The Memoranda of Understanding were signed by SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and UCC Holding President Ramez Al-Khayyat. One MoU provides new opportunities for cooperation in oil and gas, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and energy projects in third countries, while the other focuses on partnership in Syria’s energy sector, contributing to the restoration of the country’s energy infrastructure and supporting sustainable development in the region.
