An Azerbaijani delegation led by Prime Minister Ali Asadov is visiting Uzbekistan to participate in the 4th Tashkent International Investment Forum.
A panel session on the theme "Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan: Vector of Economic Partnership” was held as part of the forum.
The session, attended by government and business representatives from both countries, featured discussions on enhancing bilateral trade, promoting joint investment projects, and strengthening cooperation in the areas of energy, transport, agriculture, industry, and digital technologies.
In his remarks, Elnur Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Economy Minister, emphasized that reciprocal visits of the two countries’ heads of state, meetings and events provide significant impetus to the development of cooperation.
"Economic and trade relations between our countries are expanding. Trade turnover with Uzbekistan has more than tripled in January-April of 2025. Mechanisms such as the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan and the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company play a crucial role in strengthening economic relations. Additionally, the formation of other joint action platforms can stimulate economic partnership," the First Deputy Minister emphasized.
Khurram Teshabaev, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) of Azerbaijan, Shukhrat Vafaev, Executive Director of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, Nazim Hajiyev, Director of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company, Sharof Rahmonov, Deputy Governor of Tashkent, shared their views on the development of economic partnership between the two countries in various areas.
On the sidelines of the forum, Azerbaijan’s Economy First Deputy Minister Elnur Aliyev met with Qatari Minister of Foreign Trade Ahmad Mohammed Al Sayed to discuss Azerbaijani-Qatari relations. The sides lauded the successful development of relations, highlighting broad potential for strengthening economic relations between the countries. In this regard, the parties underscored the importance of implementation of joint initiatives. Information was provided about Azerbaijan's favorable business environment, various investment projects, and transport opportunities, and prospects for cooperation. The sides explored joint investments, infrastructure development, establishing effective partnership mechanisms between the public and private sectors, and cooperation in other domains.
