On June 9, Poti Transterminal, the multimodal container terminal—located in the city of Poti on Georgia’s Black Sea coast and holding strategic importance to the Middle Corridor—was officially inaugurated with Azerbaijan’s involvement, reaffirming its status as a reliable strategic partner in the region.
The new logistics center will boost the region’s transit and cargo capacity. Georgia and Kazakhstan entrusted its design and supervision to Azerbaijan, with the work successfully executed by the Azerbaijani firm INNOPRO CJSC.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the transport agencies of Georgia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, along with parliamentarians and international logistics experts.
Speakers at the opening ceremony highlighted the project’s regional and global significance. Built to modern international standards, the terminal features scalable, sustainable logistics infrastructure.
Olzhas Arykbayev, Terminal General Director, underscored that Azerbaijan played a pivotal role in preparation of the design and estimate documents, showcasing innovative and high-quality engineering solutions.
Jani Katamadze, Director of Operations, highlighted Azerbaijan’s major role throughout the project, which aims to enhance the Middle Corridor’s capacity and benefit all transit countries involved.
Samir Mammadov, head of INNOPRO, underlined that the Azerbaijani company managed the design and engineering of the terminal, which can handle 80,000 TEU annually, with the possibility of a further improvement up to 200,000.
“The logistics terminal will significantly enhance the sustainability of the Middle Corridor, enabling faster and timely transportation. It is not only an infrastructure project, but also a symbol of regional economic cooperation,” Mammadov emphasized.
