In recent years, Azerbaijan has begun to make large investments in Türkiye, Ahmet Yildiz, Ankara's Permanent Representative to the UN, who attended the official event dedicated to Azerbaijan's Independence Day at the UN headquarters in New York, told Report.

The diplomat noted that May 28 is a significant day not only for Azerbaijan, but also for the entire Turkic world: "Today is an important day for the entire Turkic world. Although the independence that Azerbaijan gained in 1918 was short-lived, this event left a deep mark in the memory of the Turkic world."

Yıldız stressed the importance of Azerbaijan always being independent and strong: "I am very pleased to be here today. We wish for Azerbaijan to be independent forever and the Turkic world to be united. The emotional and historical ties between our peoples have always been strong."

He also recalled that the relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye are based on historical foundations: "During the First World War, an army was sent from Türkiye to save Azerbaijan. This is also an indicator of our common history. Although there are sometimes different approaches on the international level, Türkiye is always by Azerbaijan's side."

He concluded that Azerbaijan itself is now supporting Türkiye and economic cooperation is gradually expanding: "Now Azerbaijan is also making large investments in Türkiye. We believe that Türkiye and Azerbaijan are leading the Turkic world."
