According to World Bank (WB) estimates, climate change could reduce agricultural productivity by 10-25%, Huseyn Huseynov, an official of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy, said during a seminar themed "Green Climate Finance and Carbon Pricing Policy."

“The World Bank believes that climate change could push an additional 100 million people into poverty by 2030. The World Health Organization estimates that 3.6 billion people live in regions highly vulnerable to climate change. Between 2030 and 2050, climate-related factors such as malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, and heat stress are projected to result in an additional 250,000 deaths annually,” Huseynov stated.

The official added that due to climate change, it is projected that 80 million people will lose their jobs by 2030. “As for health costs, the expenses related to climate change problems will increase by $1-5 trillion”.
