In January-August 2024, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in the Azerbaijani economy increased by 8% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 997.1 manats ($586.54).
Report, citing the State Statistical Committee, informs that the average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, professional, scientific and technical activities, information and communication, as well as transportation and warehousing sectors of the economy.
As of September 1 this year, the number of salaried employees in the country was 1,754,900 people, of which 878,300 were employed in the public sector of the economy, and 876,600 in the non-state sector.
Of them, 18.9% were employed in trade and repair of vehicles, 18.2% in education, 12.8% in industry, 8.3% in healthcare and social services, 6.9% in construction, 6.4% in public administration and defense; social security, 4.3% in transportation and warehousing, 3.8% in professional, scientific and technical activities, 3.3% in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 2.2% in financial and insurance activities, and 14.9% in other sectors of the economy.
