Azerbaijan’s energy minister holds several meetings in Dubai

Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov has held several meetings on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP28 in Dubai.

 

In a discussion with Chief Executive Officer of Masdar Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, the sides underscored the significance of collaboration with the UAE`s company Masdar on 10 GW renewable energy projects. Minister Shahbazov underlined that this partnership holds special importance in realizing Azerbaijan's goals for green energy development and carbon emission reduction. The discussion also encompassed the initiation of 4 GW onshore and offshore green energy projects, along with considerations related to investment agreements signed in October for solar and wind power plants with a cumulative capacity of 1 GW. The ongoing process of identifying onshore and offshore renewable energy areas and market research on green hydrogen and green ammonia were highlighted.

 

Parviz Shahbazov also met with Minister for Energy, Power and Petroleum of Pakistan Muhammad Ali to discuss the implementation of the agreement on long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to Pakistan signed this July, oil products supplies, and other important areas of bilateral energy cooperation. Both ministers noted that the close relations and friendship between the two countries allow for a wide range of cooperation.

 

In a meeting with Minister of Economy, Energy and Business Environment of Romania Virgil-Daniel Popescu, the parties exchanged views on the development of an energy partnership between the two countries.

 

The energy minister also held a meeting with Morten Dyrholm, Group Senior Global Vice President at Vestas Wind Systems. The meeting explored Azerbaijan's commitment to green energy and potential cooperation in the production of wind turbines.
