Azercosmos has signed a cooperation document with the UN Office in Azerbaijan on joining the UN Global Compact initiative.
By joining the Global Compact, Azercosmos will have the opportunity to plan, implement sustainability in the field of space activities, strengthen its internal capabilities and promote its expertise to the wider business community and other stakeholders internationally. Also, exchange of experience between Azercosmos and the UN, and discussions on Azercosmos report on the assessment of the effects of global climate changes on the Republic of Azerbaijan are planned.
As a participant of the UN Global Compact, Azercosmos will adapt its activities to the country's sustainable development priorities, "green" development directions, policies and obligations, including the "Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development" covering the years 2021-2025. Azercosmos will benefit from the experience of the UN on 17 goals related to sustainable development.
The Global Compact, founded in 2000 at the initiative of the UN, is the world's largest corporate sustainability network, bringing together more than 20,000 business and non-business partners in more than 160 countries. to adapt to the principles of human rights, labor rights, environmental protection and the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".
