The Great Silk Way International Boxing Tournament officially commenced in Baku today. The opening ceremony began with a parade of the participating teams.
In his address, Samir Huseynov, advisor to the president of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation (ABF), highlighted the importance of the tournament and remarked on the participation of numerous strong teams. Following the playing of the national anthem, the tournament was formally opened.
The national teams of Azerbaijan, Australia, Algeria, Bulgaria, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan will compete for glory at the traditional competition, which will run until April 7. The tournament will bring together 126 boxers, competing for a total of 14 sets of medals. Azerbaijan will be represented by 37 male and six female athletes in the tournament.
